Once upon a time, in an orthodox Brahmin family, a girl was born. However, her arrival into the world was met with rejection from her grandfather, who refused to accept her due to her gender. Despite this setback, the girl’s parents showered her with love and affection, and she quickly became the cherished soul mate of her grandmother.

Growing up, the girl faced numerous challenges, but her determination to win the hearts of her parents and grandparents never wavered. She understood that education was her ticket to gaining their approval, so she tirelessly studied to achieve excellent grades. Eventually, her hard work paid off, and she became the favorite grandchild when her grandfather witnessed her securing the top position in her exams. His pride in her accomplishments brought them closer together, although her brother remained the most adored person within the family.

At one point in her journey, circumstances led the girl to spend two years in her aunt’s house. Her father’s sister had always desired a daughter, as she had two sons of her own. They saw an opportunity to adopt the girl, but her father’s deep love for her prevented it from happening. He couldn’t bear to be separated from his beloved daughter and swiftly brought her back home, ensuring she received a better education and a brighter future.

Throughout her story, the girl learned to adapt and adjust wherever necessary. She faced societal and familial biases but remained resilient in her pursuit of acceptance and love. With unwavering determination, she not only achieved academic success but also won the affection and recognition she so desperately sought from her family.

As the years passed, this girl from an orthodox Brahmin family continued to defy expectations and break barriers.

When she was just seven years old, the girl happened to meet a boy at a wedding ceremony. They instantly became best friends, unaware of the plans their parents had secretly made. The parents, seeing the strong bond between their children, decided to arrange their marriage at such a young age. However, neither the girl nor the boy knew about this arrangement as they grew up.

One day, when she was still a child, her father revealed to her that they had chosen a future husband for her. He cautioned her against falling for anyone else during her school years. Unbeknownst to her, the boy her father spoke of was her best friend. Surprisingly, she embraced the news with happiness, accepting the fate that awaited her.

The boy, three years older than her, pursued a medical career, and his parents wished for the girl to follow the same path. As fate would have it, they drifted apart for a long seven years, not crossing paths until a significant moment in their lives. By then, he had become a doctor, and she was preparing for her 12th board exams. Unfortunately, she fell severely ill with asthma, and it was during this challenging time that they reconnected. He guided her through her studies, providing advice on the subjects she needed to focus on. In the evenings, they visited an eye doctor together. He exhibited his protective nature by asking another man who sat next to her to move away, making her feel safe and cared for. As a token of their bond, he gifted her a pair of spectacles, even though she didn’t need them.

When the results of her 12th board exams were revealed, they were unsatisfactory, disappointing both him and his parents. She, too, attempted to pursue a medical career but was unsuccessful. Eventually, the boy fell in love with someone else and moved on, a fact she discovered during her engineering studies. She, too, let go of any lingering emotions and moved forward. Their connection had never been deeply romantic, and they continued to cherish their friendship.

Throughout her engineering college life, the girl encountered numerous challenges. Feeling lost and seeking to regain her reputation, she joined an NGO and women’s organization, channeling her energies into reclaiming her dreams and aspirations. She transformed herself into a tomboy, cutting her hair short and adopting a more masculine style, allowing her to focus on her studies.

During her engineering studies, she and her friend prepared for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) exams. While her friend succeeded, she did not. Additionally, her attempts to crack the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for Bioinformatics, her dream field combining genetics and IT, proved unsuccessful. Frustrated and disappointed, she decided to let go and surrendered herself to spirituality, relying on God, yoga, and meditation to heal her wounds. She battled depression and even required medication for her mental health.

Nevertheless, she found the strength to rebuild her life and refocus on her studies. Through yoga and meditation, she achieved complete healing. However, her sorrows were not yet over. Intrigued by a class lecture on a dating app, she joined various dating apps out of curiosity, oblivious to the potential consequences. Naively, she saw dating as a form of friendship that could lead to loving relationships, unaware of the app’s association with casual sexual encounters. Coming from a small town, she had limited knowledge about dating and its modern implications. Her focus on studies and her reliance on her laptop meant she rarely used her mobile phone, only replacing it when it broke or became unusable.

In the bustling metro city, life seemed daunting for the girl. Being a vegetarian and abstaining from alcohol and smoking, she felt out of place in the fast-paced and liberal environment. Struggling with financial constraints, she found herself living in poverty, unable to afford a better hostel. The hardships took a toll on her mental and physical health, causing stress, anxiety, and a sense of self-worthlessness. Seeking solace and stability, she approached her parents with the idea of getting married sooner rather than later. She observed her friends getting married early or engaging in live-in relationships, but the live-in relationship option didn’t align with her conservative values and aspirations. She believed that marriage would provide the security and support she longed for.

Although dedicated to her studies and career, the girl held a romantic heart and yearned for a love marriage. Over the course of 7 months, she met four different men through matrimonial sites, and in the span of October to May, her marriage proposals started pouring in. The process followed traditional arranged marriage norms, including kundli (horoscope) matching. Delighted by her parent’s choice, she happily accepted the proposal and decided to change cities to get to know her future husband better, hoping to create memorable moments together.

Upon relocating, the girl and her fiancé met for the second time after their initial introduction during the parents’ meeting for the marriage arrangement. He proved to be helpful and assisted her in finding a good hostel. Their bond grew as they enjoyed bike rides together, creating experiences reminiscent of her cherished moments with her father and brother. However, with her fiancé, the feelings she experienced were more akin to those of a teenager falling in love. He celebrated her birthday in a beautiful manner, alongside his mother and brother, leaving her deeply enamored. As time passed, just seven days before their engagement, they experienced intimacy for the first time while watching a movie. In this new chapter of her life, with her job search ongoing and him returning home early from work, they would spend quality time together, sharing meals, watching movies, talking, and listening to music. It was a novel and exhilarating experience for her, her first taste of love and romance. However, they both agreed to halt their intimacy until after the engagement, acknowledging the need to respect the boundaries of their pre-marital commitment.

Following the engagement, they began living together in a new apartment on weekends. It was during this time that her fiancé revealed that four new female trainees had joined his team at work. He showed her pictures of the trainees, providing details about their cities, education, and ages. This disclosure triggered a sense of insecurity within the girl, yet she tried to brush it aside. After the engagement, she moved to a new hostel closer to her office, while her fiancé also changed apartments. She would often visit him at the new apartment, but gradually, she noticed a change in him. He started drinking alcohol excessively, consuming six cans in one sitting. This behavior altered her perception of him. Moreover, whenever he drank or faced any issues, he would call her late at night, expecting her support. She even found herself cleaning his clothes during the weekends and buying groceries for their weekend cooking sessions. She felt a sense of ownership over him but struggled to accept his changing demeanor. He became silent and stopped sharing as much as before. Their fights escalated over trivial matters, and he resorted to verbally abusing her. In a distressing incident, he even slapped her before their marriage and told her to return to her hostel one weekend when she attempted to intervene and prevent him from excessive drinking. Unable to share her pain with her parents or bring herself to end the relationship, she felt trapped. The anguish grew to the point where she harmed herself, cutting her hand, as she couldn’t bear the thought of harming or revealing the truth to her parents.

Finally, one day, she mustered the courage to confide in her parents about the issues she faced, without disclosing the details of their intimacy or sexual encounters.

After sharing her struggles with her parents, they decided that the marriage would not be sustainable given her current state of mind. They requested the groom’s family to consider an alternative choice, but he insisted that he could manage and adjust to her situation. Even his father agreed, emphasizing the importance of maintaining their reputation. With these assurances, She found some security and trust in the upcoming marriage, believing that things would improve after they tied the knot. Her future husband even promised to reduce his drinking habits to only five times a month, gradually decreasing it further.

However, the situation took a turn for the worse just 20 days before the wedding. She learned that the company where she was working was facing financial losses and had decided to lay off employees to cut costs. Unfortunately, her department was among those that were completely shut down just 15 days before her marriage. Losing her job was a heavy blow, and on top of that, she had to endure the torment of her hostel mates, who seemed determined to make her life miserable over trivial matters she hadn’t even caused. To make matters worse, she fell severely ill, and it was then that she discovered her future husband had a transient blood pressure condition. Overwhelmed by these challenges, she struggled to comprehend how to handle everything at once.

Despite these setbacks, She proceeded with the marriage, hoping for a better future. Little did she know that her sorrows were far from over; in fact, they continued to grow with time. Immediately after the wedding, she moved into her in-laws’ house, where her brother-in-law and husband resided. She had never been adept at cooking, as she had never been required to do so. However, her in-laws had strict expectations that she must prepare roti, puri, or paratha along with one curry for their tiffin boxes every day. Waking up at 4:30 am became a regular routine for her, as she had to fulfill these cooking demands. On the days she prepared poha, she would receive scolding for not cooking a meal suitable for her husband’s lunch. Ironically, her husband and brother-in-law often returned home with their tiffin boxes untouched, having eaten outside due to office parties or lunch outings.

On top of the cooking responsibilities, She had to attend job interviews as she desperately sought employment. Her life became a rollercoaster of terrible experiences. She struggled even with basic tasks like folding clothes, as she had grown accustomed to living like a queen during her time in the hostel, where no one had restricted her actions. But in her new home, she faced scolding for every minor mistake, whether it was the taste of the food she prepared or her inability to wake up early enough.

Her dreams of living a fulfilling life were shattered, and her first Valentine’s Day as a married woman turned into a nightmare. On that day, she and her husband had a heated argument, and in a fit of anger, she lashed out and kicked both her husband and brother-in-law. Accustomed to venting her frustrations physically with her brother, She acted impulsively before realizing what she was doing. She immediately regained control of her anger, but both brothers left the house afterward. Her brother-in-law had always treated her like a sister, regardless of the circumstances. Despite his efforts to apologize on her husband’s behalf, he also complained about her cooking and engaged in arguments with his parents.

Her married life was far from what she had envisioned, and the challenges continued to mount with each passing day.

As the situation continued to deteriorate, one day she found her childish brother-in-law, whose actions caused a significant mistake that ruined her and her husband’s reputation. The incident also had a negative impact on their marital relationship. She was the one who bore the brunt of everyone’s anger and hatred, even without any valid reason. Matters worsened when her husband began experiencing persistent chest pain, leading to a diagnosis of heart issues likely caused by high cholesterol. His mother started blaming Her for both her son’s life and health problems, leading to increased animosity towards her. To make matters worse, her father-in-law suffered a heart attack, and She found herself blamed once again. On that particular day, she had confided in her father-in-law about her husband’s drinking habits and his lack of regard for his health despite medical advice. Her life had become a battlefield, filled with blame and unnecessary accusations from almost everyone around her.

In addition to the mounting conflicts at home, She faced torment at her recent workplace. Her manager subjected her to unwarranted torture, making it difficult for her to concentrate on her job. Consequently, she lost her job once again. Determined to redirect her focus and attention to her family, She turned to freelancing as a means of employment.

Ever since her husband’s blood pressure condition was detected, their intimate life came to a halt. They hardly shared any moments of intimacy in the past six months. She expressed her concerns about this to both her parents and in-laws. However, whenever her in-laws demanded a child, her husband presented new issues as reasons for the delay, such as neck problems or heart issues. Their relationship gradually began to crumble, although She remembered a brief period of marital bliss. She never blamed her in-laws, considering their anger to be justified, but she felt trapped and helpless.

Amidst all the conflicts, She decided to focus on her career, hoping to find solace and distraction. However, a significant event occurred that demonized her and deeply wounded her. Her only wish was to have a child, even if it meant abstaining from a sexual relationship with her husband. She accepted all his conditions and made countless attempts, but each one ended in failure. When she finally became pregnant, she learned that her husband had mixed feelings about their child and showed minimal concern, which further complicated her future prospects. Within 45 days of her pregnancy, a fight erupted, leading to internal bleeding. On that same day, She sent a message to her brother, expressing her intention to end her own life if she had to stay with her husband. In this difficult situation, she made the heartbreaking decision to have an abortion. Following the procedure, the doctor advised her to focus on losing weight and caring for her health for six months before attempting to conceive again. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to maintaining good health and adopting a strict lifestyle. She was a mother who had lost her child, and the pain of seeing other children served as a constant reminder of her own loss. No one could truly understand her feelings, and the pain intensified day by day.

Eventually, She reached her breaking point. One day, after a heated argument, she decided to leave her husband permanently and returned to her family home. Despite still harboring love for him, she mustered the courage to apologize and accept all his conditions in the hope of reconciliation. After a lengthy discussion about divorce, her husband ultimately refused to grant her one and proposed a conditional acceptance, prolonging the uncertainty in her life. She chose to return, driven by hope, and this time she gave her all. She underwent various tests to assess her maternal capabilities and passed them all. However, she emphasized that she didn’t want to waste any more time and prioritized having a child, as she feared the possibility of the divorce case resurfacing. But the situation took a different turn when her husband requested her father’s presence to finalize something regarding their relationship. Unfortunately, her husband was diagnosed with dengue the day her father arrived, which resulted in hospitalization and halted the discussion. Her father attempted to convince her in-laws about the importance of having a child, but they expressed a desire to repair the relationship before considering such matters, unable to provide a timeframe for when they might be ready. It could be a month, six months, a year, or even several years. The uncertainty became unbearable for her father, who ultimately decided to bring his daughter back home due to the lack of clarity.

Despite all these incidents, both parties agreed to sign for a mutual divorce within six months to allow each other to move on with their lives independently hoping for a better future.
